Five Reasons to Elope in Idaho

Wondering if an elopement in Idaho is for you? Read these five reasons to consider.

While the old connotation of an elopement involved running away to get married in secret, modern elopements are non-traditional, intimate weddings (10 people or less) where couples choose a wedding format and destination focused on experiences and their personal story. Are you thinking about eloping in Idaho? Here are five reasons to elope in Idaho:

Elopements are Non-traditional

If you don’t feel like a traditional wedding fits your personality, eloping is a great option! As photographers who have photographed many many traditional weddings, we acknowledge that there can be stress and drama over wedding planning and events. Eloping gives you the freedom to create a wedding that fits your personality, style, and relationship.

Elope in Idaho if it’s personal to you

Choosing to elope should be personal—as photographers we love when couples choose amazing destinations for elopements, but your wedding shouldn’t be all about the photos. Choose a location and activities that are personal to you for your elopement. The more your elopement plans align with who you are, the more meaningful your memories will be.

Value experiences over things

Eloping in Idaho may be right for you if you value experiences over things. Weddings are a huge investment, and often the point of hosting a larger wedding is to connect with friends and family and celebrate alongside your personal community. If you’re someone who prefers spending money on experiences and you’re not interested in a big wedding, eloping is a beautiful way to celebrate your marriage!

Intimate wedding experience

With less than 10 people, elopements are intimate experiences. Whether you’re a more private person or you just love the idea of having a small celebration with the people (or person) you love most, the intimate experience of an elopement is really special.

Why Elope in Idaho?

As a Chicago girl who married an Idaho native, believe me when I say that Idaho is a hidden gem. If you’re someone who calls Idaho home or has strong personal connections to Idaho, you already know. The diversity of climates and scenery in Idaho is stunning. From breathtaking mountains to quiet riverside locations and rolling foothills, the landscape in Idaho is beautiful for an elopement! If you love Idaho as much as we do, have personal connections to Idaho, or love exploring new places, Idaho is a perfect place to elope. My number one recommendation, regardless of whether you plan a traditional wedding, an elopement, or something in between, is that you make it personal to you!
