As wedding photographers in Boise, we love working with local wedding planners. Wedding planners are the masterminds and creative directors behind most meaningful wedding celebrations, and we’re lucky to work with some of the best! Not only do wedding planners in Boise go above and beyond for couples, they also do the good work of coordinating and communicating with all of the vendors for a wedding day. I reached out to some of the top Boise wedding planners to gather their best advice for couples planning a wedding in the valley, and here’s what they had to say:

Trust your vendors. Trusting the experience and expertise of the wedding professionals you choose to work with really lets them shine and do their best work for you.
Prioritize balance when it comes to your wedding investment. Working with a balanced budget will create the best experience for you and your guests. If one expense or vendor accounts for the majority of your budget, the overall wedding experience will suffer. Instead, working within your wedding budget will be a little bit of a give and take—you may have to cut back on some things in order to spend more on others, and that’s okay.
Finally, have a planner, coordinator or point person that is not yourself and not a family member. Delegating wedding details frees up you and your family to fully experience your wedding, to be present, and to create real memories from the day.
I love to work with creative individuals that fully trust my guidance, experience, and creativity. There’s nothing like working with clients who give me the space and freedom to truly create when it comes to their wedding design.

Your budget is truly important. Do not feel like you need to go over budget to accommodate for people options that are not paying for your Big Day. In the end the only opinion is yours and your finances. Stay true to you.
I truly love watch the couple bloom and grow more throughout the planning process. To see them working together as a team, caring for the others opinion deeply and really seeing their excitement when we show them the finished space on the Day-of. This is the story they created together and they are so proud knowing they did it!

I may be biased, but my one piece of advice would be to hire a wedding planner or coordinator! It's couples #1 regret when it comes to execution of this big day and the reason is this: just like all the other wedding pro's you hire, our main job is design, organization, vendor management and execution. Even if you have an organized cousin, or creative bestie, it still comes down to the day of, when those people don't get to enjoy your day with you. There are so many intricate details, not to mention things that can (and WILL) go wrong. You don't want your mom taking your wedding pictures on her iphone so you hire a professional photographer. Same goes for hiring a wedding planner! Your wedding planner also knows all the best vendors in the area and can help with all the tiny details and questions you have throughout the planning process. So do yourself and your loved ones a favor, put a wedding planner in your budget!
As a certified wedding designer, I absolutely love the creative composition of wedding planning. Coming together with my clients to put together their dream wedding is my favorite part of the planning process. Finding the perfect vendors within their vision and budget is also something our clients get from our expertise! When we get to be a part of the planning process early, we can ensure our clients' vision is executed exactly how they dreamed it up :)

How can I possibly pick one piece of advice?! I'd say to narrow in on the location and time of year (and day of week) you'd like to get married, as well as what the 1-2 most important things are for your wedding day. Then make it fun, and as stress-free as possible. Hire professionals, create a shared wedding email to stay organized and plan monthly planning dates to enjoy the process together - and remember, there are no "rules," your wedding is just that, YOURS.
I loveee getting to know my couples throughout the planning and design process, and being able to show them what's possible, alongside sharing countless examples of the ways I've seen weddings done before! It's so fun to become their trusted friend in the industry, and get to play the role of reminding them every step of the way that the most important piece is that their day feels truly and authentically them - no matter what this looks like.

Idaho weather can be unpredictable, so if you are planning a wedding outside, have a plan for rain, heat AND wind (wind is honestly the hardest one to deal with)!
Bonus tip: assign someone to order and/or pick up lunch for the wedding party on your wedding day!!
Helping our clients' dreams and visions for their wedding become a reality! A lot of couples come to us overwhelmed, feeling like what they want isn’t going to happen or will be way too expensive. So we love brainstorming ideas that we can make it happen within their budget and come up with different touches that make their day unique to them! PLUS us getting to be there on the day of, allowing them to just enjoy and be present in each moment of all their dream day….it’s the best part!!

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
