Gabriella and Daniel had a fall city elopement in Boise, and it was such an honor to photograph it for them. As a photographer, I love when couples are more focused on presence than on the camera. It allows me to capture a more authentic story when they focus on each other, and that is exactly what Gabriella and Daniel wanted for their city elopement.
I arrived at the Capitol building downtown Boise a little early and walked around to visualize some frames in the space. I ran into Daniel with his parents, sitting calmly just outside the spot he’d soon marry the love of his life. We walked outside and he called Gabriella. We saw her walking up from a distance with her mom, and I could already tell she was smiling.
Gabriella and Daniel didn’t stage anything for their wedding. They wanted to get married and I was there to document it, and it was beautiful. They said their wedding vows inside the Capitol building during an elopement ceremony officiated by Daniel’s father. They watched as their loved ones signed their marriage license, and they were officially husband and wife.
We spent some time taking pictures after the ceremony, and Gabriella and Daniel told me they really just wanted to spend time together. We walked around the Capitol. They talked. They held hands. They laughed together, and every once in a while they glanced in my direction. It was beautiful and simple in the best way—no staged first look or entrances, it was just about getting married.

I’m Becky, a wedding photographer based in Boise, Idaho. I love photographing elopements and weddings—the celebrations that mark the beginning of lifelong stories that are so significant. Being invited into the most personal celebrations and intimate stories is one of my greatest privileges as a photographer. Beyond amazing locations and beautiful details, I love photography because of the people. Camera in hand, I simultaneously get to know people and give them the gift of seeing a deeper part of themselves and the people they love. Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
