Destination Engagement Photos in Idaho | Lynnsey and Mason

We hiked with Lynnsey and Mason to a secluded lake in the mountains of Idaho for their stunning engagement photos.

Planning their destination engagement session in Idaho

When I first met Lynnsey & Mason to chat with them about wedding photography and asked about some of the things they love to do together, one of the things they shared with me was about a trip they take each year.

Mason’s family has been going up past McCall, Idaho to Hazard Lake to hike and fish the secluded lakes there for years. So when he and Lynnsey started dating, she began tagging along on these trips. Now, each summer they spend a weekend under the stars hanging out and fishing at Hazard Lake. So when we started designing their engagement session together, I knew we had to incorporate this special trip somehow. It just so happened that Kaleb and I were free the weekend they went up to Hazard Lake this year, so we asked to steal a sunset with them at the lake.

Hiking for engagement photos at Hazard Lake

We drove a few hours into the mountains for Lynnsey and Mason’s destination engagement session, and when we arrived at the campground at Hazard Lake, we knew it would be one of our favorite Idaho engagement sessions of all time.

We took our time walking the narrow path through open fields of wildflowers, hills covered in pine trees, and made our way all the way to Upper Hazard Lake together, stopping to grab some photos along the paths Lynnsey and Mason walk each year. We came through the trees arriving at Upper Hazard Lake just as the sun was glowing on the mountains surrounding the lake. As soon as we saw it, we understood why they love it. We hiked back together as the sun went down and the air turned cool, and we couldn’t believe Lynnsey and Mason let us tag along for part of their trip.

Making engagement photos personal and meaningful

We love Lynnsey and Mason’s destination engagement photos not only because of the stunning location tucked into the mountains in Idaho, but because they fit so well into Lynnsey and Mason’s story. More than just pretty pictures in a beautiful location, their Idaho engagement photos are so meaningful to them as a couple because they capture them in a place they love together.

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
