Chicago Engagement Photos at the Wrigley Building | A & D

Amanda and Danny's stunning engagement photos around the Wrigley Building in Chicago

The Wrigley Building and the surrounding area is one of our favorite locations for wedding and engagement photos in Chicago. Whether you’re a Chicago native or a delighted visitor, the area around the Wrigley Building has an atmosphere you don’t forget: the sidewalks filled with families exploring the city and couples in love, the beautiful Chicago Riverwalk below with views of the iconic red Chicago bridges, sunshine reflecting off of the tall buildings in the Loop.

As wedding photographers, we love the way light bounces off of the neutral surfaces that rise all around the Loop. Taking wedding or engagement photos in the heart of the city means that we’re able to find stunning light all around us! The ornate architecture of the Wrigley Building speaks to history and grandeur of Chicago. Seeing the gold doors and windows alongside the decorated stone creates the distinct mark of Chicago in engagement photos. Almost any Chicago native would recognize it!

Engagement photos for Amanda and Danny downtown Chicago

We walked along Michigan Avenue on a brisk Sunday afternoon at the end of February—a time when the city is longing for spring but still putting up with some cold, sunny Chicago days—to meet Amanda and Danny for their engagement photos.

Amanda and Danny met at a dive bar in the suburbs and the rest is history. Now they both live and work in Chicago, sometimes walking the Riverwalk together after work or on the weekends. Because the heart of the city is home for them, we knew it would be perfect for their Chicago engagement photos.

With a street performer playing and singing Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me To The Moon,” we watched Amanda and Danny walk and dance together in front of our cameras. Even though Michigan Avenue was humming just a short walk away, the bustle of the city completely faded when Amanda and Danny’s eyes were locked on one another. We loved how easily they laughed together, and how comfortable they were hand in hand.

‍Since Danny asked Amanda to marry him in December, they’ve been celebrating left and right with their friends and family! When Amanda told me they’d been gifted a few bottles of champagne for their engagement, we agreed it would be perfect for them to bring one along to celebrate once more during their engagement photos! Together they popped a bottle of Veuve and toasted to this season of life as they prepare for marriage and look forward to their wedding day surrounded by the people they love most.

Amanda and Danny, we loved having an afternoon with you in Chicago for your engagement photos! Seeing you together in front of the camera got us even more excited to witness all the special moments to come on your wedding day! We absolutely cannot wait to meet your loved ones, and toast to you once more this year at The Blackstone. Love and hugs, Becky & Kaleb.

Wedding photography is my heartbeat. For me, it holds the perfect tension between creativity and authenticity, observation and connection. In front of my camera clients transform to friends, and behind it you'll usually find me tearing up, cheering you on, or holding my breath because of the raw goodness of the moment at hand.
